- Return: 18:00 to Mendoza
- Two-day trek (out and back), over rocky terrain with slopes. The altitude (around 4,000 meters at the viewpoint) requires good altitude hiking management.
Route Description
Over three days, we will hike through stunning glacial landscapes until we reach Plaza Francia(4,200 m.a.s.l.), the base camp for expeditions attempting the challenging South Face route of Aconcagua. From there, you’ll enjoy an unforgettable view of hanging glaciers, massive rock and ice walls, and the immense presence of the highest mountain in the Americas (6,962 m.a.s.l.).
Optional 2-Day Version
For those with limited time, a 2-day program is available, combining the ascent to the viewpoint and return to Mendoza on the same day, departing from Confluencia Camp.. This option requires greater physical effort and logistical demand.
- Itinerary
Day 1
- Mendoza – Aconcagua Park – Confluencia Camp (3,390 m.a.s.l.)
- Meet the guides in Mendoza, gear check, and briefing.
- Transfer to Horcones (Aconcagua Park entrance).
- Trek to Confluencia Camp (about 3 hours), along the Horcones River valley with mountain views.
- Camp setup. Dinner and overnight in equipped tents.
Day 2
- Trek to the South Face Viewpoint (4,200 m.a.s.l.)
- Early breakfast and departure.
- High mountain trekking (6–7 hours round trip). Gradual ascent with stunning glacier, rock, and ice views.
- Arrival at the South Face Viewpoint — admire one of the most impressive faces of Aconcagua.
- Box lunch, rest, and photo time.
- Return to Confluencia Camp. Dinner and overnight.
Day 3
- Return to Mendoza. Breakfast, camp dismantling, and preparation for the return.
- Hike back to Horcones.
- Transfer back to Mendoza city. End of the program.
