Day 1

  • Meet in Mendoza: Team introduction and gear check. Transfer from Mendoza city to Vallecitos (2,900 m.a.s.l.).
  • Mountain refuge: Arrival at a local mountain hut. Group organization, briefing, and rest.
  • Lunch: Box lunch at the refuge.
  • Acclimatization hike: Short trek around the refuge, ideal for altitude adjustment and enjoying Vallecitos Valley views.
  • Dinner and rest: Group dinner at the refuge and overnight stay in basic but comfortable facilities.

Day 2

  • Early breakfast: Prepare gear and start the ascent to Cerro San Bernardo.
  • Summit ascent: Progressive hike with a constant slope through rocky landscapes and high valleys. After 4–5 hours, we reach the summit (4,140 m.a.s.l.) and enjoy panoramic views of the Cordón del Plata, Cerro Vallecitos, and surrounding peaks.
  • Descent to the refuge: Brief rest and gear check.
  • Return to Mendoza: Transfer back to the city. End of expedition.
