Tour Description
The expedition lasts 3 days, ascending via the Quebrada de Vargas — a route filled with breathtaking high-mountain landscapes, silent valleys, and an imposing environment. From the summit, you'll enjoy spectacular panoramic views of the Aconcagua massif, Cerro Tolosa, and the vast gorges of Aconcagua Provincial Park.
The ascent doesn’t require technical climbing skills but demands good physical condition and willingness to hike long hours with a backpack at high altitude. Ideal for those looking to challenge themselves above 4,000 meters in a safe, guided environment.
- Itinerary
Day 1
- Meet in Mendoza: Team introduction and gear check.
- Transfer to Penitentes (2,580 m.a.s.l.): Approximately a 2-hour drive from Mendoza city.
- Approach trek: Hike through Quebrada de Vargas to the base camp at 3,300 m.a.s.l.
- Night at base camp: Dinner and rest in shared high-mountain tents.
Day 2
- Summit ascent: Early start to reach the summit of Cerro Penitentes, overcoming a 1,050-meter elevation gain.
- Time at the summit: Enjoy panoramic views and take photos.
- Descent to base camp: Dinner and overnight rest.
Día 3
- Descent to Penitentes: Break camp and return via Quebrada de Vargas.
- Transfer to Mendoza: Arrival in the city and end of the expedition.
